Alexandre Ameroso:
A thirst for knowledge has driven Alexandre in all spheres of his life – salsa is no exception.

Having graduated from law school and looking for a new challenge from his practice of martial arts, Alexandre embarked on his dance training in 2001, beginning his journey at the Hampstead School of Latin Dance and quickly undertaking an intense exploration of the burgeoning London scene, learning from early notable names such as Homero Gonzales and the Tropicana and Salsoteca dance schools.

An invitation to join the Diablo Dance Company (European Salsa Slam 2005

champions) under the direction of Laith Sami in 2004 catapulted him onto the performance circuit. He was one of the original members of the group, touring the UK for over a year and appearing on national television.

Alexandre’s precise and technically explicit teaching is gaining increasing recognition. His focus on crisp, clear leading and smooth, inventive moves, combined with a dedicated and patient approach, dabbled with humour, has proved to be a heady cocktail and made him a sought after instructor. He currently teaches for a number of high profile London dance organisations, including MamboCity, Simply Salsa, Salsa UK and Salsoteca and has also been invited to teach internationally at events in Hungary and Sweden.

Fritha Fallon & The Salsa Diversion Dance Co (UK):
Fritha Fallon trained in Ballet, Tap and Modern dance at the Godalming School of Dance. She furthered her training in Ballet and Contemporary dance to professional level at the Laban Centre in London. She has a range of qualifications including BA(Hons) Dance in Society, Specialist Diploma: Teaching Studies (Dance) and Professional Diploma in Labanotation (UK).

Fritha gained an in depth understanding of the roots of Salsa dancing when she trained in Cuba with Omi Aralbi Dance Company learning Son, Rumba, Templeke and Casino Rueda. She learnt Cross Body Lead style from Chandy David (UK) and Luis and Joby of Salsa Brava (Los Angeles). She mastered New York On2 style when she joined the Manhattan Mambo Dancers and worked with Jason and Amanda.

Fritha works as a dancer, teacher and choreographer. She specialises in Salsa, Contemporary and Street dance. She performs with Manhattan Mambo Dancers (UK) and is also the Artistic Director of her own company called Salsa Diversion (formerly Salsa Diva Dance Company). As well as her freelance work, she also teaches A Level Dance at Godalming College. This includes teaching choreography, technique, notation, anatomy and dance appreciation.

Fritha has worked as a Community Dance Worker, which included running projects integrating people with special needs. She has taught people of all ages, from toddlers to the elderly. She has given lectures in Movement Analysis and Labanotation at the University of Surrey.

Fritha has developed her own unique style of dancing Salsa. Her style is influenced by her training in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Street dance. She incorporates the balance and elegance of Ballet as well as the body isolations and funky moves of Jazz and Street. She adapts her style to suit different kinds of music.

As a teacher, Fritha communicates the importance of correct posture, alignment and technique. She also emphasises musical interpretation and personal expression. She has helped her students to gain confidence, to get more enjoyment from their social dancing and has even coached several adult students, who participate in Salsa purely as a hobby, to the point of performing in front of friendly audiences. She helps people to achieve things that they never thought were possible, and most likely, had no previous inclination towards. She encourages people to try new ways of moving, to exceed their boundaries and helps them to feel and look more sexy.

The UK Lambada & Samba Congress Teaching Line-Up:

Patricia Cruz & Luis (Lula) Filho (London):
Patricia Cruz
Patricia Cruz is from the south of Brazil - a city called Curitiba. She went to Bahia when she was 17 years old, on holiday with friends, when she first discovered Lambada. Although she had danced Lambada at home in Curitiba, in Porto Seguro the grace and elegance of the dance captivated her and it became her passion. After her holiday she couldn't forget the dance, and so went to live in Porto Seguro, where she learned everything about the dance. Patricia has danced with some of the best lambada dancers in the world including Didi and Bráz Dos Santos. In Bahia Patricia worked in "Reggae Night" for about 4 years teaching and performing Lambada and Axé. She then danced professionally at Axé Moi on the beach and performed in a number of places. Patrica toured Brazil as a dancer and has had many international experiences  working in Paris, Buenos Aires, Pakistan, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Spain. She has worked throughout the UK but is now based in London where she is currently dancing with Lula, managing a company of dancers and performing for the group Vira Mundo.

Lula
Lula is a professional Lambada teacher, choreographer and fashion designer. He has been living in the UK for the last 14 years and along with his then partner Karina Padhila he was one of the teachers that first introduced Lambada to London. Lula has travelled around the world teaching and performing, has been to Africa, Kenya, Holland, France, Lebanon, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Scotland, USA and many other countries He worked in Paris at the famous Latin club, "Monte Cristo" in Champs Elysee and has performed for various British television channels; ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, BBC 1 and BBC2 and once performed on The Generation Game.

***********************************

Berg & Solange (London):
Berg first saw Lambada when he was 17, just as it burst onto the scene in Porto Seguro, Brazil, where he was living. He went crazy for the dance, which combines Latin rhythms with sensual moves once banned by the Catholic Church. He taught himself by practicing with his two younger sisters. A year later he was performing. By the time he was 19 he was performing internationally and teaching in London. He has led classes at Danceworks since 1991.  Berg has great ambition for his students, setting high standards. "I take it seriously. It's a challenge to bring people to a level they don't know they can reach on their own." While teaching, he projects an image of authority.
Lambada itself is about extreme masculinity and femininity, about expressing sensuality, so the macho manner fits. "It's a very passionate dance." After so many years of performing professionally, Berg now teaches and dances mostly for pleasure. "When I walk into a class, it's like fresh air. There is so much good energy in there. I love meeting people."  In addition to fitness benefits, Berg also believes Lambada gives him and others mental balance and flexibility. "You need to understand the moment and the melody to interpret what you hear, so you work with your instinct a lot”. This is Berg’s philosophy to the dance.

Marisa Gulino & Gary Carr

Marisa is a UKA Qualified Dance Teacher with a Background in Ballet and Jazz. Marisa first discovered Lambada 10 years ago when she attended one of Berg Dias classes at Danceworks. She then attended some of the Lambada clubs in London at that time and after watching everyone dance this beautiful dance felt inspired to learn. She also took classes with Patricia Rezende and Lula, and took Samba classes at The London School of Samba. After just a year of taking Lambada and Samba classes she was asked to perform alongside Patricia Rezende and Lula in the Beija-Flor Dance Group. Marisa expressed a passion for teaching and trained to do this alongside Patricia Rezende. She has now been teaching and performing Lambada-Zouk and Samba in the UK for the past 7 years. Marisa is a strong, graceful and elegant Lambada-Zouk dancer and an intuitive and sensitive teacher.
Gary has been teaching alongside Marisa and performing with her for the last 2 years. He also has a background in Contemporary Dance and Jive. Gary is a creative dancer and also has a strong but smooth and graceful style to his dance. He has a strong belief that everybody should develop their own style to Lambada-Zouk and that a teachers purpose is to encourage confidence and technical ability.
Marisa & Gary's dance style is a mixture of original Brazilian Lambada and the more Contemporary style Zouk. They also create their own moves and style to incorporate into the dance, and keep their dance smooth and flowing throughout.
